Being a courteous neighbor

Barking Dogs

Please be courteous of your fellow neighbors and do not allow your dogs to continuously bark especially during the late hours.

Some solutions:

Bring them into your home to lessen the noise level. Use a bark collar which can be purchased at your local pet store. A collar that emits citronella may be easier for your pet rather than an electrical collar. Perhaps the dog may be in distress in the evenings and a great chewy toy would help.

Spring Lawn Care - Caring for an existing lawn

If you have not had a soil test within the last two to three years, complete one now. Test results will indicate how much lime, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium your lawn needs. You can use a complete fertilizer with a ratio of 4-1-2 or 3-1-3 (N-P-K) in lieu of a soil test, but it is not a good substitute for a soil test. Fertilize the fescue lawn in September, November, and February using one pound of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn. Continue to water the lawn in the fall, applying about one inch of water per week in the early morning. For weed problems, apply a broadleaf herbicide in early fall. Be sure to follow label instructions. Spray treatments are best, but weed-and-feed products are convenient.

Core-aerate compacted lawns to move air and water down to the roots. This can be followed by seeding. If your lawn is well maintained, do not overseed. Continue to mow all tall fescue grass during the fall months at a height of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches

A high quality lawn is an asset to your neighborhood and to the environment as a whole. Turf grass prevents soil erosion, provides oxygen, filters contaminants, and beautifies our landscapes. Your lawn deserves attention....after all, it is a garden too.

Being a courteous neighbor  **Parking**

(March 21, 2008) Please be advised that vehicles should be parked either in the homeowner garage, driveway or the street.

Vehicles should not be blocking the sidewalk nor parked on lawns. Please be advised that multiple cars parked across the street from each other may be subject to ticketing by the city. Parked cars that block the pathway for an emergency vehicle will be subject to ticketing and or towing by the city.  Also please do not park on a curve or close to an intersection or stop sign as that also reduces visibility for other drivers to see up ahead.

Renovation on the Griers Fork Entryway was completed in late June by Aces Lawn Care

(September 27, 2007) The board voted to revamp the front entryway through better usage of lighting, foliage and new plants in addition to removing the gazebo benches. The project included removing overgrown trees and shrubbery, installing over 100 new plants, flowers and trees, highlighting the existing beautiful crepe myrtles and reconfiguring the irrigation system. New lighting now highlights the entryway with new lanterns on the Griers Fork monument, accent lighting on the stone walls and up lighting for the oak trees along Griers Fork Drive. The flowerbed was completely redesigned to allow for heartier, more colorful and inviting annuals and perennials to blossom with the changing seasons. We hope you enjoy the new look of our entryway and perhaps you will be inspired to make landscape improvements on your property. The Griers Fork Green Thumb committee is always looking for volunteers and input to make the Griers Fork subdivision a development inviting to new homeowners and a place you can be proud to call home

Fall lawn tips from Aces Lawn Care

(September 27, 2007) Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the monument renovation! We hope everyone is pleased with the improvements that have taken place. Here are some quick tips to insure a healthy lawn in the spring:

Heavy core aeration; over seed w/quality grass seed; starter fertilizer application; and lime application.  It’s best to aerate when the ground is soft. Refrain from putting down wheat straw over grass seed because it has wheat seeds. If you need to cover an area of seed, we recommend a light coating of topsoil or peat moss. A quality grass seed that is 99.9% weed free is the best choice. Any starter fertilizer will jump start your seedlings to a healthy root system. It is important that you use starter fertilizer when applying grass seed, any other fertilizer will not allow the seedlings to germinate. Lastly the lime application can help the pH balance in your soil, make sure you do a pH soil test before any lime application. Any questions or assistance in maintaining or preparing your lawn for the winter, please give us a call 704-491-9715.
